Frederico Meireles Dantas (Salvador, Bahia, November 12, 1959) is professionally known as Maestro Fred Dantas. Founding member of the Academy of Letters and Arts of Salvador, he occupies the chair whose patron is Anísio Teixeira. He is the son of Dorivaldo Dantas, a doctor, and Edith Meirelles Dantas, a teacher. He, a doctor from the Dantas family, ranchers with roots in Curaçá, on the banks of the São Francisco River. She, originated from the Meirelles family, with roots in the south of Bahia, clove and cocoa farmers between Cayru and Taperoá.
